Staff Physical Therapist

Dr. Maria Muto, PT, DPT is a graduate from Columbia University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy Program and practices at Iron Health Physical Therapy in Ardsley and Briarcliff.

Dr. Maria’s journey to become a Doctor of Physical Therapy began when she fell in love with the anatomy and physiology of the human body during her nutritional studies in college. Understanding that the body is complex and health is multifactorial, she began to expand her studies to kinesiology and physical therapy. Dr. Maria knew she wanted to become a Doctor of Physical Therapy when she observed the doctors’ treat with a deep understanding of the human body and with a hands only, evidence based and personable approach.

Now as a clinician herself, Dr. Maria loves treating all walks of life within the outpatient orthopedic setting. She aspires to bring patients back to their most optimal, functional selves. Her treatment style includes hands-on techniques, movement/mobility re-training and patient education. Having grown up around sports, Dr. Maria has experience working with active individuals (spartan, crossfit, etc), professional marathon runners, New York Yankee players, high school and collegiate athletes. In addition to her orthopedic work, Dr. Maria has practiced in pediatric early intervention physical therapy and is currently certified in pelvic health rehabilitation. Furthermore, she has helped co-found an international non for profit organization that provides free education and physical therapy services to the underserved populations. Thus, she has practiced overseas in both countries of Italy and Spain. Overall, Dr. Maria uses an individualized and holistic approach to provide long lasting effects to help heal her patients.
