Doctor Allison Scova
Allison Scova, PT, DPT, is a practicing Physical Therapist at Iron Health, Briarcliff. She received her B.S. in Exercise Science and Kinesiology from SUNY Cortland and then went on to earn her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Mercy College. During her clinical affiliations as a student, Allison received training in IPA’s Functional Manual Therapy techniques, Postural Restoration, and Mulligan and Maitland mobilization concepts. Dr. Scova completed a clinical affiliation at Iron Health as a student and grew to love the quality behind one-on-one patient care. She has experience treating musculoskeletal conditions, pelvic floor dysfunctions, sports injuries, and pre/post operative cases. She has worked with a wide variety of athletic populations including tri-athletes, basketball players, baseball players, Crossfitters, Powerlifters, and many more! Her certifications include TRX Suspension Training as well as Herman & Wallace Pelvic Floor Level 1, and her areas of interest include Pelvic Health and Sports Medicine.
Allison has always enjoyed being physically active and participated in basketball and softball for most of her young life. In college, she continued to play club softball and also worked as a Group Fitness Instructor teaching cycling and swim classes. She continued to teach group classes while pursuing her Doctorate, but eventually transitioned into working one-on-one with clients as a Personal Trainer. Her activities now include weight-training, Pilates, hiking, and recreational running. Allison aims to instill physical fitness and healthy lifestyle choices into her conversations with patients. She takes a “whole body approach” and makes all of her treatments goal-specific to each and every patient. Allison also believes in incorporating conditioning to increase exercise capacity for patients of all activity levels.
