Shoulder Pain Physical Therapy

Stop Working Around Your Shoulder and Start Getting It Fixed

Shoulder pain can sideline even the most driven athletes and active adults. Whether you're dealing with a nagging ache when pressing, sharp pain overhead, or stiffness that's limiting your range of motion, we help you understand what's driving it and build a real plan to get it resolved.

Shoulder Pain Doesn't Just Go Away

Rest doesn't address the root problem

Stepping back from pressing, overhead movements, or throwing might calm things down — but it rarely fixes what's actually driving the pain. Come back too soon and you're right back where you started.

You're modifying around it and losing ground

Avoiding bench press, overhead work, swimming, or throwing to protect your shoulder means you're losing strength and skill. The longer you work around it, the harder it becomes to rebuild.

You don't want to end up in surgery

Untreated shoulder dysfunction can lead to compensations, worsening rotator cuff damage, and a longer road back. Getting it assessed early usually means a simpler solution.

Common Conditions We Treat

Common Shoulder Issues We Address

From acute injuries to chronic overuse, we help active adults across Westchester County and Stamford work toward pain-free overhead movement, pressing, and sport.

Rotator Cuff Tears and Strains - Conservative management and progressive loading to restore strength and function without rushing to surgery.

Shoulder Impingement - Addressing the mechanics and muscle imbalances that cause pain with overhead or pressing movements.

Labrum Injuries - Building stability and strength to manage labral issues and support return to overhead sport and activity.

Frozen Shoulder (Adhesive Capsulitis) - Progressive mobility and strengthening work to restore range of motion and break through the freeze.

Shoulder Pain with Lifting or Overhead Work - Identifying the mechanics driving your pain so you can get back to pressing, snatching, and overhead training.

Frequently Asked Questions

Shoulder pain comes with a lot of questions. Here's what active adults ask us most about physical therapy for shoulder pain.

Is shoulder pain something PT can actually fix, or will I need surgery?

Physical therapy is often the most effective first step for shoulder pain — and for many conditions, it's all you need. Most rotator cuff injuries, impingement issues, and labral problems respond well to a focused, progressive rehab plan. We'll give you an honest assessment of your situation after your evaluation.

Can I keep lifting while I'm doing shoulder PT?

Often, yes. We'll work with you to identify what movements are safe and what needs to be modified while your shoulder is recovering. The goal is to keep you as active as possible while addressing the root cause.

How long does shoulder PT take?

It depends on the issue and your goals. Many people notice meaningful improvement within the first few weeks. After your evaluation, we'll give you a realistic timeline based on your specific situation and what you're working toward.

Do you accept insurance for shoulder PT?

We're primarily cash-based and out-of-network for commercial plans, though we do accept Medicare. We provide superbills for possible reimbursement, and HSA/FSA cards are accepted.

What if I've had shoulder pain for a long time?

Chronic shoulder pain responds well to physical therapy, especially when the plan is built around improving strength and movement quality rather than just managing symptoms. Many people with long-standing shoulder issues see meaningful improvement with the right approach.
